QotD: I'd Like To Thank...
Congrats - TIME Magazine voted you "Person of the Year"! What's your acceptance speech?
well now, i hadn't quite expected this. but it comes to me without much surprise... yes i acknowledge the fact i'm one of you all. movers of knowledge however small. may we stand proud and say: count me in, you know i'm tops. that's Mr. Egoist to you.

yeah about that little ego-jump it fed, if you'd actually read the article, it's nothing more that a little media trumpeting: "hey i know what the Web 2.0 is, finally!". Good. cuz previously, they'd only seen it as technology: of hypes as Flickr, eBay, craigslist, Wikipedia, del.icio.us, Skype, dodgeball, and Adsense.#
it's strange to note that in the Times story; WWW, RSS feeds, YouTube, Facebook, Second Life, podcasts, Linux, etc was mentioned... and at the end emphasized:
This is an opportunity to build a new kind of international understanding, not politician to politician, great man to great man, but citizen to citizen, person to person. It's a chance for people to look at a computer screen and really, genuinely wonder who's out there looking back at them. #
and i wonder just when... if anyone would stroll into the great archive in the sky (ok fine!) web; notice the oh so many revisions to my website's structure/design (actually past February 2006, the changes must have been to gradual for it to detect), and realize my relationship with the WWWeb 2.0. because my dear fellow... i thought of it first, only called it differently: SMUD.
and THAT is why this award holds a special place in my heart.
